A day in the LIFE!

We spent Friday night repainting our condo so the new renters could move in on Saturday. I had a fabulous den with bookshelf wallpaper on one wall. A couple of months ago, I removed wallpaper in my new home with a 3 to 1 solution of vinegar and water in a spray bottle. The wallpaper came off so easily my kids were helping me. It came off in whole pieces. Imagine our chagrin when at 4:30 AM we finally arrived to our home for the "night" after peeling wall paper off the wall for 7+ hours. It would not come down. Needless to say, when my parents and I decide to wallpaper, we WALLPAPER! I was sad to see my beautiful room transformed back to its boring beginnings... but that bookshelf wallpaper left its mark!

Our first renters are moving out of our condo tomorrow. They moved in planning on being there temporarily and so they were fine with my creative choice of color schemes. I am a bright and sassy girl. I have a large picture wall painted Lime Green and another wall in the kitchen painted a hodge-podge of Oranges. My guest/TV room has the most fabulous book wall paper inspired by the Longfellow Wayside Inn in Sudbury, MA. My house was my personal creation and so very me! I loved living in Pemberley... a neighborhood inspired by my favorite novel and movie of all time, Pride and Prejudice. My husband just called to tell me he has found new renters who want us to restore my house back to it's neutral beginnings. I am sad to part with my Tinkerbell laden "pixie palace." Guess it's just the cost of doing business.

Our kitchen has been a demolition zone since I determined I wanted a completely different look (i.e. new paint job, refinished cupboards, eventual new flooring). Bless my husband who took on the task and has done a great job of seeing my vision through to almost completion. One afternoon, Jadin decked himself out in "work clothes" and headed out to the garage to help his Dad. He was a raving success... another lesson in Life Skills.

Speaking of Life Skills... Last Sunday Lance was in helping the boys clean their room. They have a habit of creating a mountain on the bottom of their closet consisting of clean and dirty laundry. This is a very discouraging mountain to climb when laundry seems one of the only "constants" in life. Lance sat with Joseph and Jadin and taught them how to fold their clothing, how to sort through what is clean and what is dirty, how to hang the clothing up and how to designate a drawer for specific catagories of clothing. Jadin, very exasperated by this exercise, learned from his father that this was a chore he would be doing for the rest of his life. Being the ever supportive spouse that I am, I also chimed in by telling Jadin... "Yep! This, my dear, is a Life Skill!" Hate those things don't we?!

We are a silly family. We love being silly and light hearted. I like it that way! We couldn't even pull our act together for the ward Christmas Party. But, hey! What would the world be like if everyone took themselves seriously? (Photos courtesy of Jadin Brandow)

These are probably the only animals I will ever have in my home... not a big pet lover. But I love these furry critters.

As we were in desperate need for bedroom furniture, by husband went to a garage sale and bought two night stands, a dresser and mirrors. When I first saw them I thought to myself "Eye of faith, Jody! Eye of faith!" Turns out Lance is quite a miracle worker with wood. They turned out beautifully.
